Rex Johnson, DVM Veterinarian
Dr. Rex Johnson is a 1997 graduate of Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After practicing in Texas and Colorado, he returned home to Oklahoma in July 2013. He has a strong professional interest in surgery, cardiology, dentistry, and exotic animal medicine. Dr. Johnson is an active member of several leading veterinary organizations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), and Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA). His dedication to lifelong learning has led him to pursue advanced continuing education in areas such as dental techniques, emergency and critical care, veterinary orthopedics, and small animal fracture management.
Opening Edmond East Animal Hospital was the realization of a lifelong dream. For Dr. Johnson, veterinary medicine is not only about caring for animals but also about connecting with people. He enjoys getting to know each client and learning what makes their pet such an important part of the family. Helping both animals and their people is what makes his work deeply rewarding.
At home, Dr. Johnson shares life with his wife Shannon—also a veterinarian—and their two children, Teagan and Declan. The family also includes their beloved pets: two cats, Kitty Crumb O’Donnell an Ron O’Grady; two dogs, Bronwyn Flynn McCool (a Lab/Terrier mix) and Bailey Quinn (an American Staffordshire Terrier/Chow mix).
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Johnson enjoys time with his family, bike riding, golfing, hiking, and watching football. He and Shannon also love catching a good movie or concert when they get the chance.
